We as mature women are always looking for the best way to lose weight but very few really know what it takes to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight. We spend our time looking for some miracle—an overnight result, a magic pill, the right diet—to solve our problem
Unfortunately, there are many manufacturers out there who are willing to take advantage of our naiveté to tell us what we want to hear about weight loss in order to get us to buy products that don’t work.
|
None of the “quick fixes” will work to help us lose weight.
There are many, many resigned women who have tried many of them, found they didn’t work and have simply given up.
The Answer to Weight Loss.
First of all, let’s see if you need to lose weight.
BMI CHART
One way to get an idea where you stand in terms of needing to lose weight is by using a “BMI chart”. “BMI” means body mass index. Simply put, what a “BMI chart” reflects is the relationship of your height to your weight. It is not an exact measurement of healthy and unhealthy weight but it will give you one very good clue.
Use our BMI chart now to find out your Body Mass Index.

What is the best way to lose weight?
Diets don’t work.
The simple weight loss secret….
Eat healthy and exercise. What? Eat healthy and exercise. Eat healthy and exercise. There really is no trick to it. It’s simple. You simply need to eat to nutritious healthy food and begin a regular program of exercise.
I know. I know. It isn’t what you want to hear. I’d love to be able to give you an alternative, something to make you happy. We would all love to take a pill, go to bed and wake up thinner. But, up until now, scientists have not found an easy answer to weight loss. The next time you see a commercial on TV for some “magic” weight loss supplement take note that they always say the advertised product works with a healthy diet and exercise. So, in fact that product is unnecessary. Why spend the money? Just get to work.
How many calories should I eat to lose weight?
As a rule, most women need to eat 1,300-1,800 calories every day. You can make your own personal estimate by multiplying your weight by 12. That will be number of calories you need to maintain your weight. Then subtract 500 calories and you will lose one pound each week.
Did you say 3,500 Calories?
Remember that one pound is equal to 3,500 calories. That’s what I said…3,500! That means you must either reduce your intake by 3,500 calories per week or increase the number of calories burned by 3,500 per week in order to lose one pound per week (by the way, somewhere between 1 lb and 1-1/2 lbs is considered healthy weight loss).
It’s not as difficult as it sounds.
Let’s look at one scenario. If you divide 3,500 calories over a week, it means you need to account for 500 calories every day. You can achieve your goal by 1) reducing your calorie intake by 300 each day and 2) burning 200 calories in exercise. For instance, you can eliminate 2 cans of soda, two tablespoons of mayonnaise or ˝ bagel. And you can walk fast for 30-45 minutes. Think about that for a minute. It doesn’t sound very difficult, does it?
Are you ready to lose weight?
However, the first thing you need to determine is are you ready to do what it takes to lose weight? Are you really ready and willing to make the necessary changes? Are you sick and tired of listening to yourself having the same old conversation, “I hate the way I look. I hate the way I feel. I need to lose weight” and doing nothing about it? Be honest with yourself. If you aren’t really ready, if you aren’t dissatisfied enough, if you aren’t disgusted, you won’t do anything. You’ll talk about it a lot. But talking doesn’t accomplish anything. It’s actually “walking the walk” that will make the difference.
If you are ready…..
